The short version: your quiz answers and results live on your own device, not on our servers. We only get your email if you choose to give it, and you can have it deleted anytime by emailing us. We never sell data and we run no ads. Payments are handled by Stripe and Apple — we never see your card number.
Your assessment answers and results are stored locally on your device — in your browser's local storage on the website, or on your phone in the app. They are not uploaded to our servers. If you clear your browser data or delete the app, they're gone; we can't see or restore them.
Your first name, if you enter one, stays on your device the same way, and is included only if you send yourself your results by email or make a purchase.
Your email address — only if you choose to type it in ("Email me my map," the optional email field, the waitlist, or the schools contact form). Along with it we store your result direction, top match, life stage, and general answer categories so the emails we send are actually relevant. This lives with our email provider (Brevo) and is used to send your results, occasional next-step emails, and — if you bought the Full Report — your purchase confirmation. Every email includes an unsubscribe link that works immediately.
Purchase information — website purchases are processed by Stripe; app purchases by Apple. We receive confirmation that a payment happened, the email used at checkout, and (from Stripe) the name on the checkout form — never card numbers. We keep payment records as long as tax and accounting law requires. When you return to the site, we re-check your purchase with Stripe so your report stays unlocked (and so refunded purchases lock again — fair's fair).
Basic usage analytics (website only) — the website uses Google Analytics to count things like visits and test completions, in aggregate. We don't use it to build profiles of individuals, we don't run ads, and we don't load analytics for visitors in the EU, UK, or Switzerland (see "If you're in the EU or UK" below). The iOS app contains no analytics or tracking of any kind.
Schools form — if a counselor or school submits our schools form, we receive the name, work email, school, and message they type, and use it to reply.
That's the whole list. No accounts, no passwords, no location tracking, no contacts access, no advertising identifiers.
A few well-known companies handle specific jobs on our behalf: Stripe (website payments), Apple (app purchases and notifications you schedule on your own device), Brevo (email sending and our mailing list), Vercel (website hosting), and Google Analytics (website visit counts, outside the EU/UK). Each receives only what it needs for that job. We never sell your information, share it with data brokers, or use third-party advertising tools.
We process the little we have on these bases: performing our contract with you (delivering your results and your purchase), your consent (emails you signed up for — withdrawable anytime via unsubscribe), and legitimate interests (verifying purchases, preventing fraud, and replying when you contact us).
Email contact records: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them (unsubscribed contacts are suppressed so we don't email you again). Purchase records: as long as tax and accounting rules require. Everything on your device: entirely in your hands.
Email caden@mymajormap.com anytime to access what we have tied to your email, correct it, delete it, get a copy of it, or object to or restrict our use of it. We answer every request, usually within days, at most within 30, and we never treat you differently for exercising your rights.
The rights above are your GDPR rights. Our services are operated from the United States, so information you give us is processed in the U.S.; where transfers from the EU/UK are involved, our processors (Stripe, Brevo, Apple, Vercel) operate under recognized safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses and, where applicable, the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework. We don't load analytics cookies for EU/UK/Swiss visitors, we do no profiling with legal effects, and we make no automated decisions about you — the assessment runs on your own device. You also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority, though we'd love the chance to fix things first.
We collect only the categories described above (identifiers and inferences you generate on your own device), we do not "sell" or "share" personal information as those terms are defined in California law, and we honor access, deletion, and correction requests at the email above.
If you allow notifications in the app, reminders are scheduled locally on your device. Turning them off in the app or in iOS Settings stops them immediately. No notification data is sent to our servers.
MyMajorMap is designed for high-school students, college students, and adults exploring career paths. It is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us an email address, contact us and we'll delete it promptly. Under-18s should use MyMajorMap with a parent or guardian's permission.
The website uses local storage strictly to save your progress and results on your device — that's essential to how it works and involves no tracking. Google Analytics (outside the EU/UK) sets its standard measurement cookies. There is no advertising or cross-site tracking anywhere in the Service.
Everything runs over HTTPS, payment details never touch our systems, and the honest best protection is the design itself: we simply don't collect much. No system is perfectly secure, but there's very little here to breach.
